I will be offline for a while. I am busy doing all the preop instructions, seeing primary doctor and surgeon, going to the hospital for a class and speak to the head nurse, filling out tons of paperwork, etc. I have to have my knee replaced, I was told it’s not that big of a deal. The photo above doesn’t look like no big deal to me. Had to stop taking certain meds starting today, and no vitamins, or anti-inflammatory, have to shower with a powerful antibiotic soap every day including the day of surgery. The photo above is what I can expect, ugh! I am stressed but I know I will make it through. I don’t know when I will be back online on a regular basis. However, it will give me time to read, I hope. If so I will be writing reviews whenever possible. Please don’t think I am slacking off because I’m not. I will miss reading many wonderful posts to share on social media. I’ll probably lose some followers as well but I know my friends will be here when I return. I will miss you all and look forward to returning ASAP. Please say a little prayer for me on Nov. 10th. Love you all. xoxo Patricia from The Writers Desk. ☺☺☺
I’ll send all my best energy your way come November 10th! Take good care and don’t worry about the Bloggosphere while you are gone! I am sure people will wait for your return 🙂 All the best for the days and weeks to come! *Hugs*

My dear sweet sister, I’m so glad you posted this so I can give you some encouraging words. I did not know you were having surgery. I had both of my knees replaced. One in 2010, the other in 2011. I do agree, the pic you posted doesn’t look like a small thing, and it isn’t. Still, I want you to know, it isn’t as bad as it seems in your mind, and so well worth it. It is painful, but there are meds to ease the pain. The physical rehab is extremely important and also painful, but I fooled everyone and forced my way through. You are a strong woman and you will come through it so much better. My scar on both legs is so narrow, it is hardly noticeable, Yours will be also. Take the meds, do the rehab, read, rest, and soon you will be walking like a kid again. You already know I will pray for you and so will others. I love you Sis with all my heart and can’t wait to hear you say, I’m so glad I did this.

Thank you so much, Sis. I am supposed to have my other knee done when the left one heals. You have given me encouragement. The surgeon did tell me about the pain and the P.T. and pain management, the only problem is I am allergic or resistant to many pain meds, so I just have to work through the pain. However, I can tolerate Tylenol but when I had part of my lung removed I worked through the pain with the Tylenol so I guess it will work for me again. I know you and others will keep me in their prayers and can’t wait to walk normally again. I have to keep up with my 3-year-old granddaughter. Ha! Love you, Sis. ♥♥♥

My wife had this surgery earlier this year and is super happy with the new knee, her scar has also nearly disappeared. She also has a great many allergies to medications, including those for pain. Keeping up with therapeutic exercise post surgery helped enormously.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Wishing you much relief from years of knee pain 🙂

Dear Pat, I’ve ringed the date in my diary. Maureen and I will be at an art exhibition on the 10th and celebrating remembrance on the 11th, but you can be sure of this: that through it all and beyond, we’ll be sending you our best loving wishes from across the Big Pond.
Friendship always.
Yours,

That does look painful, but I expect your knees are too, or you wouldn’t be having the surgery. Just keep thinking of the day you can walk the way you used to again, and the time will fly by! I will be thinking of you… X

Patricia, what can I say? I will be thinking of you and sending all the healing powers I can muster, but I’m not much good at looking after myself so I’m not sure that will be any good. I’m afraid this is going to be all down to you with loads of help coming from your caring husband with friends and family giving him a rest. You would tell me to do what the doctors say. Now’s the time to take your own advice. Trust them, and after this one’s done you’ll know what to expect. Be strong, your family and all your blog followers need you.

Thank you, dear Danny. I know you’re right but it is a bit scary until it’s over. Your encouraging words make my heart smile and I will be thinking of all the beautiful comments left here as I work my way through P.T.. It will be wonderful to walk and climb stairs without pain, One of my goals is to see how long it takes me to be able to sit at my desk and tap away at the keys on my computer and visit all the wonderful friends I’ve made all over the world, and you are right at the top of the list. Hugs.

The wait for surgery is often worse than the surgery itself! The anticipation and sometimes delays and postponements add to the nerves and the stress but I’m sure you will feel relief when it’s done and you can begin the work to become mobile again. The benefits will be worth it. I know how hard it is to keep up with young children, your new set of knees will have you chasing around having fun before you know it. And the last thing you need to worry about is losing followers! Take your time, take care of yourself and come back rested and reinvigorated. All the best 💜

I was so nervous before my back surgery it made my mouth too dry to eat. They threatened to cancel if I didn’t start eating. They gave me crackers and cheese as a starter 😄🙄

A friend who was severely burned once said, “scars are like tattoos, but with better stories”. The best burn center in the US, gave him a “less than 1%” chance of surviving his injuries he received on 12/21/2008. He was able to play lacrosse at the college level, graduating last year. That’s a story! Hopefully yours won’t be as dramatic 😊

Yes you can! A positive attitude is the best medicine, and you have a ton of it. My husband really needs a knee replacement, too. Really! He spent the summer doing water PT, which was fantastic. He’s not looking forward to the winter. Let me know how everything goes, including recovery. Best to you, my friend! 🙂

I’ll pray for you. I’m overdue for a knee replacement but have been trying to get all my ducks in a row before having it done. I was widowed in February and had to have a lot of legal work done. God Bless and Keep You, Patricia. —- Suzanne

I will pop on whenever I can. I am a bit anxious right now but will be better when I open my eyes after surgery. ☺☺☺

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I know knee replacements are difficult to handle because my husband is a physical therapist. If you have a good PT after the surgery, it will help a lot.
